Honoring Survivors & Remembering Loved Ones!

This picture is especially meaningful – a daughter and grand-daughter sharing their tears and remembering with love the loss of both mother AND father to brain aneurysms.

In 2012 we started the Honor Wall at our annual KAT-Walk & Karo-5k where families can place a sneaker with the name and photo of a loved one who has been lost to an aneurysm or the name and photo of a survivor. This has become an emotional place to stop and reflect and honor those lost and a proud place for others to celebrate their survival.

As we continue to add sneakers, the size of the wall has increased to accommodate the names of our loved ones. Photos over the years illustrate how many people and families are affected by this devastating medical condition.

We also welcome stroke and AVM names on the board as well. A true brain community develops on the day of the KAT-Walk & Karo-5k and the Honor Wall gives one hope, comfort, and encouragement.

In 2012 we started out with 16 sneakers.
In 2015 we added hinged wings to the wall to accommodate over 50 sneakers.
The 2019 we added two additional hinged wings on the sides and reduced the size of the sneakers to include over 135 sneakers.
In 2023, we had almost 170 sneakers.
