Brain Aneurysm Awareness Outreach

In September, during Brain Aneurysm Awareness Month, the Maine Brain Aneurysm Awareness Committee had the privilege of conducting a Lunch & Learn session at Maine Health (Maine Medical Center hospital) in Portland.

Lunch and Learn at Maine Med

Committee member Casey coordinated a gathering of hospital social workers to educate them about brain aneurysms, including their causes, diagnosis, and treatment options.

Dave and Heidi, two founding committee members, not only delivered an engaging slide show presentation but also shared their personal experiences with the audience.

The attendees were highly engaged and expressed gratitude for our efforts to promote awareness of brain aneurysms across the state. Many were particularly touched by the personal stories shared by Heidi and Dave.

As social workers, the participants are acutely aware of the challenges faced by both patients and caregivers following a traumatic medical event. We were able to offer them valuable resources and insights regarding brain aneurysms should they require assistance.

We extend our thanks to Casey Rogers and Maine Health for allowing us this opportunity to raise awareness about brain aneurysms.
