The Maine Brain Aneurysm Awareness Committee was pleased to award $2,000 scholarships to five students at the KAT-Walk & Karo-5K for Brain Aneurysm Awareness on September 22, 2024.

scholarship winner anna white
Anna Mackenzie White is a 2nd year student at Southern Maine Community College majoring in Nursing. Anna’s grandfather’s dying from a Brain Aneurysm and dealing with her own neurological challenges as a child has lead Anna to her goal of becoming a neuro nurse. (Kimberly Tudor Scholarship)
scholarship winner gabrielle ann baron
Gabrielle Ann Baron is in her 4th year at Husson College Majoring in Occupational Therapy. Gabrielle and family have experienced first-hand the devastation brought on by stroke and cancer through the long term illness of her father and decided at an early age that she wanted a career in OT. (Karolina Kurka Scholarship)
scholarship winner chloe miles
Chloe Miles is a student at Southern Maine Community College in her 2nd year majoring in nursing. Chloe and family have been touched by both brain cancer and brain aneurysm. As a nursing student in the Neuro ICU at Maine Med, she has resolved to specialize in neuro care upon obtaining her RN. (Jessica Heath Scholarship) 
scholarship winner kimberly seitz
Kimberly Seitz is a 3rd year student at Husson Collge working toward becoming a Doctor of Physical Therapy. Kimberly’s family has also been directly affected by an ischemic incident and brain tumor. She has worked summers at Togus VA Hospital and is currently the Director of Operations for Husson’s pro-bono medical clinic. (Cheyanne Audet Scholarship)
Jasmin Kasaei Fard is continuing her Nursing studies at St. Joseph College while working at Maine Med as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Jasmin is one of Artie’s nieces and has attended and helped out at many of our Aneurysm Awareness events. (Arthur J. Piteau Scholarship)

These scholarships were established in memory of four young ladies from Maine that passed away from ruptured Brain Aneurysms or Brain Tumor: Kimberly Tudor was a graduate from UNE with a CNA certificate and BS in Sports & Fitness, Karolina Kurka graduated from UNH with a Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy, Cheyanne Audet received her BS in Nursing from the University of Maine, and Jessica K. Heath, Brain Aneurysm Awareness Committee member and tireless supporter of the National Brain Tumor Society. A fifth scholarship was award this year in memory of our organizations co-founder, Art Piteau.

We once again thank all those that participate & donate to the KAT-Walk & Karo-5K for Brain Aneurysm Awareness and for your continued support of our efforts to increase Brain Aneurysm Awareness, Education, and Research in Maine and northern New England.
