Endowed Scholarship Fund

Enhancing Education and Knowledge in the Neurosciences

Investing in MaineHealth Maine Medical Center neuro care team members.

The Maine Brain Aneurysm Awareness Committee (MBAAC) is proud to announce the establishment of an Endowed Scholarship Fund at MaineHealth Maine Medical Center.

This fund will allow the neuroscience care team members at MaineHealth (including nurses, certified nursing assistants, and physician assistants) to pursue advanced certifications in the field in order to provide better care and support to patients.

MBAAC firmly believes in advancing care, education, and research related to brain aneurysms and hemorrhagic stroke. Given the general scholarship support already provided through our Undergraduate Student Scholarship Program, the MBAA Committee decided that a targeted approach-advanced certifications for neuroscience care team members-would be the most effective way to make a significant impact for MaineHealth.

With the generous support of the Brain Aneurysm community, we were able to establish this neuroscience scholarship fund through the proceeds from the annual KAT-Walk & Karo-5k for Brain Aneurysm Awareness.

We have made a substantial initial investment of $25,000 and hope to augment this endowment in the future as revenues from the walk permit. In the fall, we look forward to sharing more details about the first of the scholarship awards.

To all the families who participate in the walk, whether to celebrate survival or to remember those lost, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing support. YOUR participation at the walk and continued involvement in promoting brain aneurysm awareness, education, research funding, and general support for the brain aneurysm community in Maine and northern New England are truly appreciated.
