One minimally invasive approach to treat some brain aneurysms is endovascular coiling using specialized technology to treat an aneurysm from inside the blood vessel.

During this procedure, a small tube is inserted into the affected artery and positioned near the aneurysm. Small soft metal coils are then moved through the tube into the aneurysm, filling the aneurysm and making it less likely to rupture.

This procedure is less invasive than surgery. But still involves risk, including rupture of the aneurysm. The procedure is performed by an endovascular neuro-radiologist in the radiology department.

Please watch this fantastic visualization below of a coiling procedure from The Brain Maze on YouTube. Visit our website to learn more about coiling and what to expect during the procedure as well as other treatments available to treat brain aneurysms.

Our monthly ZOOM meetings provide an opportunity for reassurance and personal exchange between survivors and caregivers.
